"I am convinced that one of the reasons men spend millions in making art museums is not just so that there will be something 'aesthetic,' but because the art works in them are an expression of the mannishness of man himself."
~ Dr. Francis Schaeffer, Art and the Bible ~ Editor's note: In Schaeffer's thought, the "mannishness of man" idiom highlights the uniqueness of man and has Apologetic worth. When man shows forth that he is greater than just an animal or machine, he testifies to the fact that God is there and furthermore that He has created man in His own image with purpose, value and beauty. This is a far cry from deterministic evolution where man is merely an "accidental animal," a product of chance, governed by survival instincts and passions without defined purpose or direction.
