USING ORDER TO SAY THERE IS NO ORDER:
Schaeffer mentions John Cage in several of his works. Cage's approach to "modern" musical art represents a lapse in music toward nihilism. It basically tries to communicate a fragmentation in human communication (listen to his words at the end of the video). Yet Cage's timekeeping is contradictory. He tries to use order to say there is no order.
