MYSTICISM WITHOUT GOD OR CATEGORIES:

THE NEW JESUS MYSTICISM:

"...some evangelicals have recently been asserting that what matters is not setting out to prove or disprove propositions; what matters is an encounter with Jesus. When a Christian has made such a statement he has, in an analyzed or unanalyzed form, moved upstairs [into non-reason]."

~ Dr. Francis Schaeffer, Escape from Reason - Editor's Note: Schaeffer's "moved upstairs" phrase implies one has taken a leap into non-reason. He is not saying that an "encounter with Jesus," is not important, but that a Jesus without the truth content of Scripture is just another form of subtle mysticism.

THE NONRATIONAL FALSE FAITH:
