On Jan 30th, 2012 was Francis Schaeffer's 100th Birthday. So in honor of Dr. Schaeffer, francisschaefferstudies.org through a big party and it's still going on, lasting all year long! Starting on Saturday Jan. 28th we kicked off our celebrating with a unique event in which scholars and artist came together in Kansas City, Missouri to honor his legacy. ABOUT THE KC EVENT!

Francis Schaeffer Studies hosted a centennial celebration on Jan 28th at Stonecroft Ministires from 10 AM to 7 PM. Below are a list of the artist and scholars that agreed to join us for this free event!

Donald WilliamsDonald T. Williams, Ph D (Will be with us live!), is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Free Church of America and professor of English and Director of the School of Arts and Sciences at Toccoa Falls College in the hills of NE Georgia. He has contributed to journals such as Christianity Today, Preaching, Touchstone, Theology Today, and authored four books, including Credo: Meditations on the Nicene Creed, from Chalice Press.

Doug GroothuisDouglas Groothuis (pronunciation: grote-hice) received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Oregon. He is Professor of Philosophy at Denver Seminary, where he has served since 1993.

He has written ten books, most recently On Pascal and On Jesus in the Wadsworth Philosophers Series (Wadsworth, 2003). His book Truth Decay: Defending Christianity Against the Challenges of Postmodernism, (InterVarsity Press, 2000) won a 2001 Christianity Today Award of Merit. In addition, Groothuis is a contributing editor for the Dictionary of Contemporary Religion in the Western World (InterVarsity, 2002). His books have been translated into French, German, Korean, Norwegian and several other languages.

Groothuis has published articles in scholarly journals such as Religious Studies, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Philosophia Christi, Inquiry, Christian Scholars Review, Asbury Theological Journal and Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society. He has written, too, for popular periodicals, including Christianity Today, National Forum, Books and Culture and The Christian Research Journal, and for newspapers such as The Rocky Mountain News, The Seattle Times and The Denver Post. For three years he wrote a regular column for Moody Magazine called "Culture Watch." His observations on religion and culture have been quoted in Time, The New York Times and US News and World Report.

Groothuis's primary passion is to make Christian truth known in contemporary culture and in the church. To that end, he speaks at many colleges and universities on apologetics and ethical themes. He is married to author and editor Rebecca Merrill Groothuis.

Bruce LittleDr. Bruce A Little, is the director of the L. Rush Bush Center for Faith and Culture and the custdian of the Francis A. Schaeffer Collection. 

He served as pastor of several churches from 1968 to 2001, taught at Piedmont Baptist College (Winston-Salem, NC), and presently teaches at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Wake Forest, NC) where he serves as Professor of Philosophy. In addition, he serves as Adjunct Professor of Apologetics for Evangelical Theological Divinity School (High Point, NC) and Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary (Penang, Malaysia).

Dr. Little is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, Evangelical Philosophical Society, Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity, and the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences. He serves on the Board of Teaching Ministries International and the Center for Apologetics (Crimea, Ukraine).

M.A. in Apologetics and a M.R.E. from Liberty University, a D.Min from Columbia Biblical Seminary, and a PhD from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jeremaih EnnaJeremiah Enna - Co-Founder & Director Of The Culture House

Jeremiah has set in motion an arts center model to produce art and art programs that reflect imaginative, moral concepts for society to grow healthy by. Since its inception The Culture House has produced such recognized programs as the acclaimed Störling Dance Theater, the STAR Program for At-Risk and incarcerated children and youth, and The Culture Academy of the Performing Arts. Jeremiah Enna received his BFA in Theater from UCLA where he performed in such productions as Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, and A Chorus Line. He played "Z" in the television production "Good News/Bad News" and received the Carol Burnett Award for his work in musical theater.

 

Lance KinzerLance Kinzer - Kansas State Representative

Lance is Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee & serves on the House Committee on Corrections & Juvenile Justice as well as the House Rules Committee. Lance is a Commissioner on the Uniform Law Commission and also serves on the Kansas Criminal Code Recodification Commission, the Kansas Judicial Council and the Kansas Judicial Council Advisory Committee on End of Life Issues. Lance has also previously served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Kansas .

In 2005 Lance served as a member of the Attorney General's Security and Firm Enforcement for Kansas (SAFE) Task Force and further served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Kansas. Lance also serves as Chair of Kansas Legislative Education and Research, Inc. (KLEAR). KLEAR is an organization made up of approximately 70 members of the Kansas Legislature and is committed to advancing the principles of limited government, individual liberty, free enterprise and family values.

In December of 2006 Rep. Kinzer was selected by the Kansas City Business Journal as a "Best of the Bar" award recipient. This recognition is given on an annual basis to a select group of attorneys chosen by their peers based up their respect within the legal community.

The Kansas Republican Assembly gave Rep. Kinzer its 2007 Courageous Conservative Award.

On February 26th, 2007 Charlene Bredemeier of the Kansas chapter of Eagle Forum presented Rep. Kinzer with Eagle Forum’s Eagle Award. Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly authorized the award in recognition of Rep. Kinzer’s “leadership in the battle for God, Home and Country.” For the past 35 years Eagle Forum has worked to enable conservative and pro-family men and women to participate in the process of self-government and public policy making so that America will continue to be a land of individual liberty, respect for family integrity, public and private virtue, and private enterprise.
