Overview:

  • Schaeffer speaks into the series of articles by Buswell & Vantil.
  • It is noted that the term "presuppositionalism" was formalized by Buswell as stating that he had picked it up in casual convertsations with Dr. Allen A. McRae.
  • The Statement at the top of the article it says,"We are delighted to present this article by the Reverend Francis Schaeffer, a former student and a friend and an admirer of Dr. Van Til's."

History:

Schaeffer writes an article that gives his evaluation on a debate between Cornelius Van Til and J. Oliver Buswell. This ongoing debate would later become known as the presuppositionalist/evidentialist debate. In this particular exchange, Buswell is believed to have coined the phrase "presuppositionalist" based of of Van Til's use of a "presuppositional" argument.
